Matthew H. Volk, PMHNP, MSN

Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Matthew Volk is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Portland. He earned his Master of Science in Nursing degree from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. Prior to graduate school, he worked for seven years as a Registered Nurse on an inpatient psychiatric unit for children and adolescents. 

 

Matthew specializes in psychiatric care for children and adolescents, as well as young adults. With his experiences and philosophies as a nurse, he utilizes a holistic human approach, working with the physical, mental, and spiritual components of psychiatry and how they can relate to each unique individual and their well-being. Matthew is also part of the Mind Matters Sports Psychiatry Center and has experience working with high performing athletes and the nuanced challenges that this demographic experiences. Matthew was a multi-sport athlete throughout most of his youth. During his undergraduate degree, he was also the head coach of a high school JV soccer team, and assistant coach to the Varsity soccer team. 

 

Matthew is originally from British Columbia, Canada, but has lived most of his life in Oregon. He is an avid Trailblazers and Timbers fan, as well the New England Patriots (sorry Seahawks fans). Matthew also enjoys a variety of music and loves to attend concerts, as well as being active in the outdoors of the Pacific Northwest with his dog.
